Who Goes Where and Why:

There are several events that U14 TriState racers may qualify for – the first and foremost is the TriState U14 Championships.  The TriState U14 Championships is the only official event used to advance through the pipeline of the US Ski and Snowboard Eastern Region.   In 2024 U14s will qualify for the TriState U14 Champs based on their three best individual runs in the CYSL race series.   Performances at the TriState U14 Championships, are the basis for deciding which 15 racers will go on to compete at the U14 Eastern Region Championships, at Sugarbush, VT - March 16-19, 2024, alongside athletes from all over the USS&S Eastern Region.  A select few racers from the U14 Eastern Region Championships will advance to the Can-Am Competition.

U14's - Who Qualifies for the 2024 TriState U14 Championships at Jiminy

March 2-3, 2024

From CYSL – Racers are chosen based on the results of their best three individual runs during the CYSL race series.  TriState assigns to CYSL a quota based on the percentage of U14 CYSL athletes in TriState and we divide that quota based on the gender split within the CYSL U14 field.   In 2024, the split is 23 Girls and 33 Boys.

U12's - Who Qualifies for TriState U12 Championships

March 9-10, 2024 at Butternut and Mt. Southington

Everyone Qualifies for U12 TriState Championships - to participate, you must compete in at least one qualifying race in CYSL or MASS.  10 - W. Mass Interclub racers will also be invited to compete.

INDIVIDUAL RACER RANKING Methods

Each racer’s results, during the CYSL Race Series, are recorded and used to determine their ranking within CYSL.  Ranking is done to determine who is eligible to attend the Post-Season Races in TriState, and also to select Team CT, for the Piche Invitational at Gunstock, NH.

Each individual run, in a CYSL race, is tracked separately and the best three individual run results are used to determine the racer’s standing.  Three runs = one less than half the total race runs in the qualifying season.  The number of U14 TriState Quota Spots, allotted to CYSL, is based on the percentage of racers from each region of TriState (determined as of December 31)  The more CYSL registrants as of December 31, the more spots will be reserved for CYSL racers at the championships.

All U12 racers are invited to attend the U12 Championships, at Butternut and Mt. Southington, March 9-10, 2024.

Team Ranking Method

Team standings are based on Points earned in each age class and gender at each race.

The top 15 racers in each run earn points for their team (15-1).

The Team with the HIghest Total Points for the season is the CYSL Mountain Series winner.
